Mission
The mission of The Salvation Army in Kemptville is “To be a transforming influence in our community and to help people recognize and develop their potential, by sharing the love of Jesus Christ through the compassionate provision of holistic support in cooperation with others.”
OUR VISION in Kemptville is to help those we serve to discover and overcome barriers that may hinder independence. Through building relationships and understanding needs, we are able to offer services that alleviate stress and assist them to become more self-reliant. Our experience is that it is rarely enough to provide people with food alone.
OUR OBJECTIVE is to improve the quality of life of the poor and marginalized people living in our community by providing a safe and non-judgmental environment where people:
- can access services or referrals;
- learn new skills based on identified
needs;
- connect with others and enjoy a
sense of belonging;
- cultivate friendships.
Values
We, the staff and volunteers of the Kemptville Salvation Army, believe that:
· People are valuable, must come first and should be treated with dignity and respect;
· As the Lord has always, and will always provide through the generosity of the community we serve, we also strive to be generous in following the example set by our Lord;
· Working in partnership with others makes us stronger and all better able to serve our community;
· Honouring the trust of the community and ensuring good stewardship of the resources it provides us;
· We play a transforming role in the community and provide a sanctuary for those in need to receive care, and assistance;
· Our volunteers are an essential key to our success;
· Resourcing ourselves spiritually on an ongoing basis makes us better team members and better servants of our community;
· Expressing our happiness and joy in serving the Lord in our community provides a model for others.
Vision
In five years, we see ourselves:
· Occupying a more appropriate facility, fully accessible and with sufficient space to meet our donation, parking, meeting and kitchen needs; we see this facility as multi-use, involving our partners, with the image of a “go to” location and hub for the community;
· Operating in an appropriate resource framework made up of professional and volunteer staff members working in a safe and secure environment;
· With a full volunteer management program aimed at ensuring accountability, training, development, deployment and celebration of their excellent work;
· Working with ongoing and new partners in the community, e.g. with youth and multiplying the opportunities for fruitful collaboration;
· With a financial strategy that takes advantage of the many funding opportunities available to us in support of improving our programs in the community;
· With highly effective communications, incorporating elements such as outreach, public education, media relations, branding and annual reporting, i.e. demonstrating public accountability and stewardship;
· With an advanced model of resource management to ensure that we manage our activity, rather than our activity managing us.
